Services provided & what to expect.

Kind Smiles Dental treats children as young as one. Whether this is your child’s first visit or this is a visit to a new dentist, it is important that your child feel comfortable and develops a trust with the doctors and staff.

Comprehensive Dental Care

On the first visit we will check your child’s teeth for decay and any signs of early developmental problems, answer questions and explain how to care for your child’s teeth. Children, like adults, should visit their dentist for a check-up and cleaning every 6 months.

- Pediatric Dentistry

Early Stages

Begin caring for your child’s teeth before the first tooth came in by wiping his or her gums with a wet cloth after feeding to remove excess food and bacteria. After teeth emerge, use a soft-bristled brush and warm water to clean the teeth.

Age 3

At 3 years old, a child’s primary (baby) teeth have appeared and they should begin brushing their teeth with the help of an adult to make sure that all areas of the teeth are properly cleaned.

Age 6

Usually by age 6 a child’s first permanent molars erupt. Consider protecting them with dental sealants. A sealant is a thin plastic coating applied by your dentist to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. By filling in the teeth’s grooves, sealants create a barrier against food and bacteria that cause decay.

Age 8

By age 8 children are usually old enough to brush and floss by themselves with only occasional checks. A balanced diet is extremely important for healthy teeth and gums. Children need calcium, which they can get from milk, cheese and yogurt, that helps build strong teeth.
