Extractions

A dental extraction (also referred to as exodontia) is the removal of a tooth from the mouth.

Extractions are performed for a variety of reasons. Extractions of impacted or problematic wisdom teeth are routinely performed, as are extractions of some permanent teeth to make space for orthodontic treatment.

Kind Smiles Dental dentists are experienced in simple and surgical extractions, wisdom teeth extractions and extraction of children’s baby teeth.

There are two different
types of extraction

Simple Extractions

Simple extractions are performed on teeth that are visible in the mouth; these teeth are fully erupted or almost fully erupted. This procedure is done under local anesthetic. Patients also have the option of using nitrous oxide (laughing gas) during an extraction procedure.

Surgical Extractions

This involves the removal of teeth that cannot be easily accessed, either because they have broken under the gum line or because they have not fully erupted. In our office, this procedure is also done using local anesthetic. Patients also have the option of using nitrous oxide (laughing gas) during an extraction procedure.
